Schedule for 2016

Gray text denotes out-of-region race. All races are subject to weather conditions, so check with the event director if you have any questions. All ski orienteers should take note of two embargoes:

- Craftsbury Outdoor Center is the location of the 2018 World Masters Ski-O Championships, and as such all activities using a map are prohibited at that location. However, you can still ski there, without a map.

- Oak Hill - Storrs Pond (Dartmouth) is being used for the 2016 North American (summer) Orienteering Championships. You may race at that venue, but you may not ski recreationally there, or ski on the trails outside of the race.

Self timing. Start & finish is across the entrance road from the XC Center in the open stadium area in front of the GNA Clubhouse. There will be a sheet in the XC Center to record your course and time. There will be 2 or 3 courses available. At least one will be primarily on the established trails, with availability of the narrow snowshoe/snowmobile trails dependent on snow conditions, but will generally be sprint or middle-distance style. Courses / control locations to be adjusted every 2 weeks, or as demand warrants.

1/3/15: Kingdom Valley Trails, Chester VT. Craftsbury Touring Center, Craftsbury Common, VT

**UPDATE 1/2/15**
The race has been moved to Craftsbury. Several different lengths of courses will be available. Starts 10-noon, courses close at 2. Register starting at 9:30 in the old weight room, basement entrance at the north end of the the large dorm building. Sort of near the yurt. Entry fee of $12 also covers the trail pass for a day of skiing.

Th courses will be set utilizing almost exclusively the wide machine groomed trails. They are in good shape coverage-wise but a bit icy. Or fast. The narrow snowshoe trails will be on the map, but in my opinion are pretty much unskiable, unless they are flat. They might be good route choices on foot while carrying skis. The lakes are frozen but very icy.
